Exodus 1:1-2:25 (12/28)

As she watched the baby boy, she saw Pharaoh’s daughter come down to the river. Was that a basket among the reeds? What was in the basket? Pharaoh’s daughter opened the basket to find the Israelite baby, crying and alone. She took one look at him and felt sorry for him because she knew he was one of the Israelite babies that should have been killed.

The baby boy’s sister, Miriam, approached Pharaoh’s daughter and said “Would you like me to get one of the Israelite women to look after him for you?” “Yes, please” Pharaoh’s daughter replied. So the boy was given back to his mother, who was able to look after him until he was old enough to be welcomed into Pharaoh’s family.
