Because there were so many Israelites, Pharaoh made a horrible decision. He made an announcement to all of Egypt: every Israelite baby boy was to be killed. The Israelites were in tears. What Pharaoh was doing was wrong. How could God allow this to happen?

Things In Egypt did not go well for the Israelites. The King – who the Egyptians called The Pharaoh, did not like the Israelites very much and was scared that they would cause him problems because there was so many of them!
In the land where they lived there was a big famine – all the food ran out and everyone was starving.
